In January of 2003 the Bush administration announced a plan to try to remove all federal Clean Water Act protections for many streams, wetlands, ponds and other waters across the country. The proposal would have affected more than 60% of streams and well over 20 million acres of wetlands across the nation. A broad coalition of environmental organizations, including Earthjustice, fought this plan. The "Save Summer" website was created to educate the public about the dangers of weakening the Clean Water Act.
